The Oratory of the Little Way of St. Therese of Lisieux

The Oratory of the Little Way was established in 1965, by Fr. Benjamin Priest, nestled on four acres of land in a peaceful rural setting.

Our facility is in Gaylordsville Connecticut, about 20 miles north of Danbury in the Litchfield hills. For the most part, people come to us for healing prayer, which is increasing in demand.

Public healing services are held weekly, and individual prayer sessions are available. The Oratory offers regular classes for those who desire to learn more about healing prayer.

Retreats are available for individuals, groups, prayer teams and caregivers. At the Oratory, guests will find God's healing love and grace as they draw close to Him through prayer and rest.

We offer a sanctuary , where those ill or injured in mind, body or spirit may come to seek healing.

Healing Prayer Walk

Under the locust trees on the grounds of the Oratory, a Healing Prayer Walk offers visitors the chance to rest and pray at stations focusing on the healing of heart, mind, body, soul, and relationships.

The Mission

Our mission is to listen, love, teach and pray for all who come seeking the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Christian Ministry is used in conjunction with the medical profession. We never suggest that anyone cease taking their medication or go contrary to the advice of their physician.

Healing may be sought for disease and injury, physical or emotional pain, for memories or loss, general concerns, depression, anger, despair, addictions, salvation and spiritual growth.

Scripture reminds us that our time on this earth is finite and that we all will die. Thus "healed" is not synonymous with "cured". When a healing does occur it may or may not include a cure.

The pace is relaxed. The guest will be in a quiet, gentle, caring environment where it is safe to receive God's healing love.

The Hermitage

A separate heated building, hidden in the woods allows guests a simple, private room in which to meditate, rest , and pray.

Retreat House

The retreat house is still used for overnight accommodations, whether it's just one night or a 2-3 day retreat. Many come for the day. (Maximum stay is 5 days). Overnight accommodations are limited. Group retreats for the day can fit up to 20-25 people.

The facility has a common living-dining/kitchen area. Two prayer rooms (or quiet rooms), a chapel and a classroom that can fit 20 people comfortably. Our classroom is equipped with TV/VCR. All bedrooms are located upstairs, and are furnished with bed linens and towels. There are 3 bathrooms, each with showers. We have 3 half-baths on the ground level.

We ask those coming for a retreat to provide their own meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, 2 microwaves, coffee makers, refrigerator and dishwasher. Plates, utensils, glasses, cups, are provided. We stock limited food and beverages. (Restaurants, diners, & deli are available nearby).
